Our week in Bilbao - Overview

ELEXIA’s 2025 Fall Consortium meeting found our consortium travelling to Bilbao. From November 17th to 20th, the partnership headed to the Basque city to attend, not only the 7th GA of the project, but also the first physical workshop of the Energy Nexus Cluster and the ENLIT 2025 Summit & Exhibition.

November 17th: Energy Nexus Cluster workshop

Our week was kickstarted with the first physical workshop of the Energy Nexus Cluster that took place in November 17th.

During the workshop, alongside ELEXIA, the projects GLocalFlex, BeFlexible, OPENTUNITY, ENFLATE, STUNNED, MASTERPIECE, INDEPENDENT, and RESONANCE presented their mission and the work that has been achieved so far. The discussions that followed the presentations can only be described as lively and inspiring.

All the attendees participated in a very dynamic way, raising questions, and exchanged views.

A second workshop is already in the works.

November 18th - 20th: ELEXIA Consortium Meeting

“ELEXIA is now at a really exciting stage—we're getting ready to install our tools and methods at the pilot sites, followed by live demonstrations. To make that happen, we need the sites prepped, data ready, and all the necessary infrastructure up and running.

This phase calls for some serious teamwork, especially since our partners come from such different worlds—social science, architecture, city planning, engineering, research, and data science. Sure, emails and video calls get the job done, but there's nothing like meeting in person. This consortium meeting was packed with workshops and breakout sessions, and it really helped us sync up and clear the air on a few things.

With such a diverse group, even words like "efficiency" or "development" can mean something different to each of us. For an architect, "development" might mean designing a city block, while for a data scientist, it's about building a model. Getting everyone in the same room helped us get on the same page and sort out questions in real time.

All in all, it was a super productive few days. We left with a solid list of action items that are already in motion. And honestly, some of the best conversations happened outside the meeting rooms—over lunch, coffee breaks, and dinner. That kind of team spirit just doesn't translate over Zoom.

So, I'd call this consortium meeting a real success—and judging by the feedback, it sounds like everyone else did, too.”

November 19th: ENLIT

For the first in the project’s duration, ELEXIA participated in Enlit Europe 2025, held from 18 to 20 November in Bilbao, Spain, joining one of the most important annual meetings of the energy community in Europe.

ELEXIA was one of the 6 projects that were showcased at the Energy Nexus Cluster stand, positioned in the EU Projects Zone in Hall 5. At the stand, the visitors were able to learn more about our project through our video and infographics that were featured on the screens, and of course our brochure and our consortium.

During the second day of the event, ELEXIA participated, alongside INDEPENDENT and GLocalFlex, at the Energy Nexus Cluster Part Two panel discussion, titled “A Holistic View of Energy Flexibility: From Systems and Services to People“, which looked at how digital tools and market-based approaches are being developed to support flexibility across different types of energy users and services.

ELEXIA was represented by Peter Breuhaus (NORCE) - our project coordinator -, Jean-Nicolas Louise (VTT), and Carlos Madina Doñabeitia (TECNALIA). Also, Peter got the chance to talk about our project and share the innovative work that we have been doing over the past 3 years on ENLIT’s Summit Stage.
