ELEXIA was at BRIDGE
From the 28th to the 30th of March, it was held the annual BRIDGE meeting and ELEXIA was there, represented by our coordinator, Peter Breuhaus.
BRIDGE is a European Commission initiative which unites Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe Smart Grid, Energy Storage, Islands, and Digitalisation Projects to create a structured view of cross-cutting issues which are encountered in the demonstration projects and may constitute an obstacle to innovation. The BRIDGE process fosters continuous knowledge sharing amongst projects thus allowing them to deliver conclusions and recommendations about the future exploitation of the project results through four different Working Groups (Data management, Business models, Regulations and Consumer and Citizen engagement).
“The event was interesting due to exchange of experiences with other ongoing or completed projects. Several members of the European commission were present showing the interest of the EC in energy systems topics and allowing for feedback from project experiences to the EC and thus impact their work on upcoming calls, programs and initiatives.
This in turn means that an active participation of ELEXIA in Bridge is a good way of representing our work, findings and recommendations. This might be of importance especially as presentations of projects and EC members showed that there is still high weight on the electrical grid only and relatively little on integrated systems across sectors and vectors. We tried to highlight the importance of energy vector and sector integration in especially in context of system flexibility and towards all four working groups.
ELEXIA could actively contribute to Bridge to support the systems integration topic as the transition of the energy system will be not achieved via the electrical sector only. Instead, an intelligent and efficient integration of the different energy vectors and sectors, cooperation across traditional business boundaries and innovative business models and regulatory frameworks will pave the way to an energy and resource efficient and CO2 free energy system. “
